9th Post: A Visit to MINT
We took a visit to MINT, which is a museum of toys this Sunday. We met our mentors in the “meal@home” programme and had a wonderful dinner too. This is another enjoyable time I have had in Singapore.
Having gotten down from the bus, we find ourselves in front of a small but comfortable shop. It was actually a museum full of toys. On the 3rd floor, we had some drinks and played a few icebreaking games with the Singaporean families together. This was a wonderful evening of April, and coincidently it was the 19th birthday of Dong Yingtao, a classmate in Group 5 and my group-mate. The first game we played is about finding the persons who was born in the same month as yours. Finally we April team was celebrated with a birthday song by others because it was a time of April, and I tried to announce that there is really a birthday boy here but unluckily seldom people heard it because it’s noisy then. Anyway, I think Dong was very happy at that moment to have so many people celebrating his birthday. Similarly, I was happy too because it was not far from my birthday.
After icebreaking games, we were separated into two teams. My team had a wonderful buffet dinner at first and then we took an interesting visit to this toy paradise. It was a museum owned by a very rich person who liked to collect all kinds of toys from all around the world. We came across many awesome toys, many of which were very familiar to us and even our best friends during our childhood. Snoopy, Astroboy, Micky Mouse, Super Man and many more! It was an incredible work to collect so many toys, and many toys exhibited in the museum are only one in the world and surely of great prices.
Our mentors in our group are a classic Singaporean couples. The wife was so talkative, just like Mdm Tan (haha~), and she was very comfortable to work as an English-Chinese translator for us although her Chinese was not very good. The husband acted like a leader but seldom talked. We four SM3 students communicated with them during the dinner and got to know each other. The Singaporean couple was friendly and we also enjoyed ourselves very much.
This is our visit to MINT and our first dinner for meal@home programme. It was so enjoyable!
